2012 has been a highly successful one for us and we would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this. Obviously, to all those agents who brought us business we would like to reiterate our heartfelt appreciation. We generally finalize most transactions that come our way but, to the people who tried but did not close, credit for trying and we will catch you next time. Save the Date – Our contractors are busily creating a new show suite in the Western Union Building. When completed, we will be able to offer some of the lowest rates in the downtown for new space. At its “Welcome to the Core” office opening Thursday night, the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce ushered in its return to the city’s downtown core, as it moved to its new offices in the Standard Life building (120 King St. W.) at the west end of Jackson Square.
At this new location, the chamber will help local entrepreneurs learn to get funding, develop winning pitches, and more. The chamber is also launching marketing seminar sessions starting Oct. 15 and a business sessions starting Oct. 26.
The downtown Hamilton location is expected to help make the chamber more visible and accessible to the business community.

In the Spring, Ocean’s Fresh Food Group (905/277-9988 www.oceansfood.ca) will open a 55,000 square foot Nations Fresh Food Market in the Jackson Square Mall in downtown Hamilton.
The store will be located at the west end of the mall, near the intersection of Bay and Market streets. Nations Fresh Food Market is a full service multi-ethnic supermarket featuring foods of the world under one roof, a large fresh fish market, meat and deli counters, extensive fruit and vegetable markets, a large salad bar, in-store bakery and international prepared foods for eat-in and take-out.
When it opens, it will be the Ocean’s Group’s second Nation Fresh Food Market. The first Nations Fresh Food Market is a 44,000 square foot location that is opening in late August in Woodbridge Square in Woodbridge, north of Toronto. Ocean’s Group also operates four multi-ethnic fresh food markets in the greater Toronto area and Goudy Real Estate Corp. (905/477-3000) is responsible for the chain’s site selection…….
Construction is scheduled to start in the Fall on the 4600 square foot restaurant. The phenomenon created by Teressa Bellissimo in Buffalo, New York in 1964 is opening its Jackson Square location in early 2013. Proclaimed the ‘Best Wings in the World’, the Anchor Bar will open an upscale casual restaurant that, in addition to its signature wings, will serve a full complement of dishes from hand-crafted wood fired pizza, sandwiches, pasta, seafood chicken and a children’s menu, along with famous Cheese Cake Factory desserts. Owners Gary Reed and David Copperthwaite expect this first Canadian location to draw customers from around Southern Ontario who may already be familiar with the Anchor Bar from trips to Buffalo as well introducing the restaurant to soon-to-be loyal customers…….
