Ash and Bloom weren’t born in Hamilton, but learned to love the city they now call home.
The Hamilton folk duo – whose real names are Matt McKenna and James Bloemendal – wrote a song for the city in which they have lived for more than 10 years. They called it “This Town.”
When Hamilton was announced as the host city for the upcoming Junos, the pair decided to make a video of “This Town,” showing off some of the things they loved about the city.
Ash and Bloom also recruited some friends for the video shoot including Hamilton Spectator music editor Graham Rockingham, Mayor Fred Eisenberger, Brandon Bliss of Monster Truck, Scott Thomspon of CHML, Lou Molinaro of This Ain’t Hollywood, Bob Cowan of CHCH, Keanin Loomis of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, Peter Dyakowski of the Hamilton Tiger Cats, National Academy Orchestra conductor Boris Brott, Sunni Genesco of K-Lite FM and Brodie Schwendiman of The Casbah.
Ash and Bloom will perform Saturday, March 14, at The Gasworks, 141 Park St. N., as part of JunoFest.
The Office Tenancy Assistance Program aims to attract new office tenants and owner-occupied office uses from outside the City, and to assist existing businesses to expand by 1,000 sq.ft. or more. It provides a low interest loan to building owners or tenants to support eligible leasehold improvements to office buildings located within Downtown Hamilton, Community Downtowns , Business Improvement Areas and the commercial corridors along Barton Street and Kenilworth Avenue North as identified in the Downtown and Community Renewal Community Improvement Project Area. The intent of the loan depends on the square foot area and term of lease or owner-occupied status of the office space, to a maximum of $450,000 per application. In anticipation of full restoration of power by Enmax we would like to facilitate tenant visits to their spaces to prepare their systems for the Enmax power up. Access will be provided as follows
- Report to the main lobby of your building between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2014.
- Individuals will be required to sign in and sign out at security, provide a business card and show government issued I.D.
- Tenants will be solely responsible for accessing their own space. No access will be provided by Real Properties personnel or its representatives.
It is highly recommended that tenants bring flashlights. Out of respect to other tenants we request that the number of individuals and time spent in their spaces should be kept to an absolute minimum. As a reminder we are unable to provide:
- Access to parkades
- Elevator service
- Washroom access
The safety of individuals is our number one priority and we ask that tenants report their status to an offsite party before and after their visit.
We would like to thank everyone for their ongoing patience during this time
