Hamilton Hosts 2015 Juno Awards

Categories: Hamilton News

Ash and Bloom weren’t born in Hamilton, but learned to love the city they now call home.

The Hamilton folk duo – whose real names are Matt McKenna and James Bloemendal – wrote a song for the city in which they have lived for more than 10 years. They called it “This Town.”

When Hamilton was announced as the host city for the upcoming Junos, the pair decided to make a video of “This Town,” showing off some of the things they loved about the city.

Ash and Bloom also recruited some friends for the video shoot including Hamilton Spectator music editor Graham Rockingham, Mayor Fred Eisenberger, Brandon Bliss of Monster Truck, Scott Thomspon of CHML, Lou Molinaro of This Ain’t Hollywood, Bob Cowan of CHCH, Keanin Loomis of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, Peter Dyakowski of the Hamilton Tiger Cats, National Academy Orchestra conductor Boris Brott, Sunni Genesco of K-Lite FM and Brodie Schwendiman of The Casbah.

Ash and Bloom will perform Saturday, March 14, at The Gasworks, 141 Park St. N., as part of JunoFest.
